  <title>Common Area Landscape</title>
  <link>http://www.viaverdehoa.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=4</link>
<description>The Via Verde HOA is responsible for landscape maintenance of areas that fall into three categories:

a) two turf-covered lots
b) three hill-side areas covered with trees, plants, and tall grass
c) a strip of varying width behind the fence of some (but not all) homes on the golf course

The Board wishes to embark on changing the landscape on categories a) and b) to a new form requiring less maintenance (i.e. less cost) and less water (i.e. less cost). The landscape in category c) needs to be changed to be more attractive and less prone to weeds.

This change will entail up-front costs which we can afford because the changes will produce cost-savings on maintenance and water. The faster the changes are made, the sooner we can enjoy the lower costs.

The Board would welcome members of the community who have an interest and aptitude for landscape planning to join us in deciding what to do in these areas.

Please contact any Board member or Sharon at Elite Management for more information and to volunteer.</description>

  <title>RISE IN CRIME - NOVEMBER 2006</title>
  <link>http://www.viaverdehoa.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=2</link>
  <description>NEIGHBORS BEWARE:

PLEASE BE AWARE OF ANY SUSPICIOUS VEHICLES OR PERSONS DRIVING AND/OR WALKING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

BE CAUTIOUS OF OPENING YOUR HOMES TO SOLICITORS WHO USE SELLING ITEMS, CANDY, VACUUMS CLEANERS, COLLECTING FOR CHARITIES, ETC AS A MEANS OF FAMILIARIZING THEMSELVES WITH THE HOME AND THE HOURS IN WHICH IT IS OCCUPIED. SOME OF THESE ARE COMMON SCHEMES USED BY CRIMINALS LATELY.

CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY, IF YOU BECOME THE LEAST BIT SUSPICIOUS OF ANYONE.

KEEP IN MIND THAT THE RATIO OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TO CIVILIAN IS VERY HIGH IN OUR AREA AND THERE MAY BE A LAPSE OF TIME FOR THE OFFICERS TO ARRIVE.

BE ACTIVE, ATTEND THE HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION MEETINGS TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH WHO YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE, THEIR CHILDREN AND VEHICLES.

REPORT ALL CRIMES TO THE POLICE NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. THEY DON’T KNOW, IF WE DON’T TELL THEM.

CALL THE MORENO VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT. LET THEM KNOW WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE HIGH RATE OF CRIME OCCURRING WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY AND WANT ACTION TAKEN.

CALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND REQUEST EXTRA PATROL DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT.

CONTACT THE MORENO VALLEY CITY COUNCIL AND LET THEM HEAR OUR VOICES. WITH ALL THE BUILDING OF HOMES AND APARTMENTS THERE IS NOT ENOUGH LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS OR POLICE STATIONS TO HANDLE THE FAST PACE THAT THE CITY IS GROWING.

Again, we HAVE TO, and we MUST join together as a community to make a difference. It is obvious that the criminal mind does not care whether or not they burglarize us during the day, night or if we are at home.

PLEASE TAKE A STAND, DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU OR YOUR NEIGHBOR BECOME THE NEXT VICTIM.

MORENO VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT (951) 486-6700

CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, FRANK WEST (951) 413-3008

TO SEND LETTERS TO MORENO VALLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT,
CHIEF OF POLICE, RICK HALL
22850 CALLE SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS
MORENO VALLEY, CA 92553

EMAIL THE CITY AT:
